31 Jul Abi steps out on England Hockey Pathway
Sibford School pupil Abi is stepping out on the England Hockey Player Pathway after being selected to train at the Southern Regional Performance Centre in Reading.
The Player Pathway provides an environment that helps junior players realise their potential.
Thirteen-year-old Abi, who has been playing hockey at county level for the past two years, was selected following trials where she played with field players and received some specialist goal keeper training.
She said: “I found the trials really fun but also quite intense as there were other amazing goalkeepers there who were older than me also trying to make the team.”
Sibford School Head, Toby Spence, said: “This is a real accomplishment for Abi and we are very proud of her achievement.”
- Performance Centres feed into the National Age Group Squads. There are 17 Performance Centres across the country providing frequent, high quality training from high level coaches for U15 and U17 players.
