RSC actor conducts A Level workshop

Actor Simon Trinder, who is currently playing Trinculo in The RSC’s production of The Tempest, visited Sibford School near Banbury to conduct a workshop with A Level Drama students.

Head of Drama Neil Madden said: “Having a professional actor/practitioner of Simon’s calibre to run a workshop at the school is a huge boon and a great opportunity for our students.”

Simon shared some of the rehearsal techniques practiced by international theatre director Mike Alfred.

Speaking after the workshop he said: “It was a delight to spend time at Sibford and to introduce the rehearsal principles of Mike Alfred. I have been mentored by Mike for 16 years and stand upon these principles in every medium I work in. The students were totally focused, intuitive and jumped in with both feet. I have rarely come across a Year 13 group with such advanced knowledge. Well done and thank you guys, I can’t wait to visit again!”

A Level student Cara added: “It was a brilliant workshop. We all learned so much, and I know I will be able to readily apply these techniques to future performances.”
