The primary aim of the Advanced English Course is to prepare our students with the necessary language and techniques to achieve an acceptable test score in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). This will normally be required for a student’s acceptance by a British university when English is not their first language.
IELTS is a full subject and is chosen as one of the option blocks alongside AS and A Levels. There are 8 classes a week which prepare the student for the IELTS examination.
The usual IELTS requirement for most universities is around 6.5, which the majority of our students achieve.
This course is obligatory for the majority of overseas students in the Sixth Form for whom English is not the first language (the only exception to this is for anyone who already has an IELTS grade of 6.5+).
