CBeebies star, Richard Franks, visited Sibford School this week to share some of the secrets of slapstick.
Richard is one third of the comedy trio ‘The Three Half Pints’, who star in the CBeebies sketch show, Spot Bots.
India Harwood, age 14, said: “Richard taught us lots of different stage techniques such as how to punch someone and how to trip over. He also gave us some top tips on how to express comedy through drama. It was a really good day.”
The Slapstick Comedy Workshop was part of Sibford School’s annual Curriculum Enrichment Week, where pupils from years 7 – 10 and Year 12 are taken off the normal timetable and given the opportunity to try an activity that is new and exciting.
Other activities taking place during the week included a visit the Battlefields of World War 1 in Ypres and Vimy; a five-day boating trip on the Norfolk Broads; camping and kayaking in Wales; visits to London and Oxford and drama and music workshops.
Michael Goodwin, retiring head of Sibford School, said: “A phrase from the Quaker handbook, Faith & Practice, which we use regularly here at Sibford, is ‘Live Adventurously’ … and that is exactly what Curriculum Enrichment Week enables our pupils to do.”
