Making a splash for charity

swimmingSibford School is urging swimmers to take the plunge and compete in the UK’s biggest charity swimming event.

The school’s 25m indoor pool will be hosting Swimathon 2015 in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. And with entries now open, pool manager Angie Wiffen is hoping that swimmers of all ages will sign up to take part.

“Swimathon is fantastic as it brings people together raising money for charity and, at the same time, provides them with a great way of keeping fit,” said Angie “The event offers challenges a to suit all levels of fitness, abilities and ages and we’re hoping that people from all over will join us to take part.”

Individuals can choose to swim 1.5km, 2.5km or 5km while teams can opt for the 1.5km or 5km challenge.

Swimathon President and Olympic gold medallist, Duncan Goodhew MBE, said: “Swimathon provides motivation and a personal challenge to swimmers nationwide. It also offers a goal to train for, a target to achieve and a great cause to support.”

Sibford pool will be open for the Swimathon Challenge on Saturday 18 April (from 4.30pm ~ 7.30pm) and Sunday 19 April (from 3pm ~ 7pm). To sign up for Swimathon 2015 at Sibford pool click here
