Matt to study with award winning director

matt-to-study-at-ntSibford School pupil Matt Rainsberry will be spending half term in the company of Rufus Norris, the multi-award winning Artistic Director of the National Theatre.

The 17-year-old, who lives in Stratford upon Avon, has been invited to join an exclusive workshop being run by Norris at the theatre on London’s South Bank.

The invitation follows his attendance at a National Youth Theatre Casting Audition back in February.

“The Casting Auditions are for the entire NYT season so you don’t know what, if anything, you might be called for,” said Matt.

“I received an email this week saying that they were ‘extremely impressed’ with the audition and inviting me to attend the workshop.”

As part of the workshop Matt will be helping to devise an ending to an upcoming project, and then performing it in a one-off performance event in London.

“I feel very excited to be working with such a prominent member of the National Theatre and look forward to gaining valuable experience,” he said.

Sibford School Head of Drama, Neil Madden added: “This is a huge achievement for Matt and we are very proud of him.”

  • The Rufus Norris workshop is one of a number of exciting events taking place in 2016 to mark the 60th birthday of the NYT.
