Dr Rebecca Burton from the University of Oxford’s Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics, was guest speaker at Sibford School’s recent Café Scientifique.
Rebecca spoke on ‘Matters of the Heart’, explaining why around 12 apparently fit and healthy young people in the UK die suddenly each week of cardiac abnormalities. She outlined some of the research that is currently taking place and spoke about new therapies that are being introduced for the prevention and treatment of serious cardiovascular diseases.
Café Scientifique takes place at Sibford School once a term. Guest speaker at the next event, on Thursday 3 March 2016, will be Peter Newbold who will be speaking on: ‘Protecting Britain’s Endangered Wildlife’.
