Olympic hockey player shares top tips

ccSibford School’s Under 15s Hockey Squad has started the new term in style.

On Thursday, the team won their first match of the season 3 – 0 against Chipping Norton School. And the following day the girls were able to pick up some expert coaching tips from Irish International, Chris Cargo.

Chris, who was part of Team Ireland Men’s Hockey Squad for Rio 2016, spent the day at the school near Banbury and, in addition to coaching the Under 15s, also took part in PE sessions with pupils from Year 4 to Year 9.

PE Teacher, Allison Warrillow, said: “It was a fabulous day and the girls picked up some really expert advice. To have a visit from an Olympic athlete so soon after the Rio games was a great coup and we are really grateful to Chris for spending the day with us.”

  • Chris Cargo has in excess of 100 international caps and has just moved to Hampstead and Westminster HC for the start of the 2016/17 season.
