Young choristers sang their hearts out on Saturday (1 April) and raised more than £880 for BYHP (the Banbury Young Homelessness Project).
The Friends Schools Joint Choir Festival took place at St Mary’s Church in Banbury and saw pupils from Sibford School being joined by choristers from sister Quaker schools … Ackworth School near Pontefract, Walden School in Saffron Walden and Friends’ School in Lisburn.
Highlight of the festival was the combined choir of more than 100 young voices performing Fauré’s Requiem.
The St Mary’s audience included Lady Saye & Sele, a patron of BYHP, and the Mayor of Banbury, Councillor Gordon Ross.
Entrance to the festival was free … with charity funds being raised through a retiring collection.
Toby Spence, Head of Sibford, said: “It was a fantastic evening. The choir sounded brilliant and I am delighted that we were able to raise so much money for BYHP.”
