On Thursday (17 September), the 17-year-old, who has been competing in triathlon events for just over two years, will undertake a 750m swim in Monroe Harbor, on the shore of Lake Michigan; a 20km bike ride on closed roads starting from Grant Park; and a 5km run finishing at Buckingham Fountain.
“I’m feeling very excited, but also very nervous,” said Rosie, who gained entry into the event after coming first in the world qualifier held at St. Neots, Cambridgeshire, in May.
Claire Ferley, PE teacher at Sibford School said: “Rosie has done fantastically well to achieve entry into the Chicago Triathlon. We are all extremely proud of her and wish her all the best when she competes next Thursday.”
The Triathlon World Championships take place over four days and are expected to attract some 6,500 competitors and more than 100,000 spectators.
