Rugby players at Sibford School enjoyed a touch of success when the Premiership Cup arrived on campus courtesy of current champions Northampton Saints.
The impressive trophy was on display to mark the start of Sibford’s annual Rugby Sevens Tournament.
Now in its 17th year, the tournament, which attracts competitors from across Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire, kicked off this week with the under 12s competition and saw King Edward VI School, Stratford-upon-Avon winning the cup and The Warriner School, Bloxham taking the Plate.
Sibford Rugby Sevens Tournament, which is supported by members of the Northampton Saints Community Coaching team, continues next week.
On Tuesday (March 24) the event hosts the Oxfordshire regional tournament of the Elite Insurance Sevens Series for Under-13s, where pupils will be competing for the opportunity to play in the finals which will be held at Franklin’s Gardens in late April. It is hoped that the Premiership Trophy will once again be on display during this event.
On Wednesday, Under 16s and Under 18s will take to the field and the event will close on Thursday with the Under 14s and Under 15s tournament.
