Members of the acclaimed professional touring theatre company, Rain or Shine, are set to delight family audiences once again when they return to Sibford School near Banbury with their production of Shakespeare’s classic romantic comedy, The Merchant of Venice.
The outdoor production will take place in the school’s Holly House Garden on Wednesday 25 June.
Michael Goodwin, head of Sibford School said: “Rain or Shine first visited us back in 2010 with their production of The Importance of Being Earnest.
“Since then we have enjoyed their unique takes on As You Like it, The Comedy of Errors and The Canterville Ghost, and I am delighted that in 2014, the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth, we will be able to enjoy another classic from the bard.”
Rain or Shine Theatre Company aim to bring classical theatre into the hearts of local communities. In addition to the performance at Sibford School, this year’s tour will take in a wide range of venues including Wolvesey Gardens in Winchester; Stokesay Castle in Shropshire; and Dore Abbey in Hereford.
The Merchant of Venice at Sibford School will start at 7.30pm, with gates open from 6.30pm. Audiences are invited to bring along low-backed seating or rugs and a picnic to maximise their enjoyment of the al fresco performance.
