Teacher of Science
  • Up to full time, term time only
  • £30,000 to £41,333 per annum, dependent on experience

We are seeking to appoint an engaging Teacher of Science, the successful candidate should have expert knowledge of science with a specialism in Sciences and the ability to motivate and inspire students in these subject areas.

The successful candidate should be enthusiastic, creative and passionate about the sciences and be able to contribute to positive outcomes for our young people and to the wider school community.

You should have proven experience of teaching Science from Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 5, the ability to manage a complex caseload, have strong literacy and ICT skills, including use of school databases, good organisational skills and interpersonal skills.

Head of Key Stage 4
  • Full Time
  • Competitive Employment Package (depending on experience)

We are seeking to appoint an experienced teacher to ensure the care, guidance (pastoral and academic) and discipline of Key Stage pupils, the leadership of the Key Stage tutor team and communication with staff, external bodies and parents. 

The post holder will be responsible for pastoral support and working with the academic team to monitor and support pupil progress and outcomes.

The role will be required to:

  • Promote high standards of behaviour and attitudes to work.
  • Use data to inform strategies to improve outcomes for pupils in short/longer term.
  • Support the school in embedding Fundamental British Values and Anti-Bullying awareness.
  • Monitor individual pupil progress and pastoral/wellbeing; ensure school standards are met by students and to support student’s personal organisation; attendance; prep; study and extra-curricular activities.
  • Create a warm, friendly and supportive environment and to demonstrate personal interest in the lives of our young people.
  • Help diagnose difficulties and offer solutions, liaising with outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Promote and develop an understanding of the “Quaker ethos” in our students.
  • Promote and celebrate pupil achievement and monitor interventions for underperformance.
  • Co-ordinate and lead the Tutor Team, and to organise and run the end of term awards meetings for the Key Stage.
  • Plan and oversee the delivery of the PSHE programme for Key Stage 4, including all RSE requirements. 
  • Complete administrative tasks promptly, and to keep accurate records of telephone calls and interviews on SIMS as well as the effective use of CPOMS to record and share information.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • Proven experience of teaching to a high standard
  • Demonstrable experience of working at management level
  • Proven experience of teaching up to and including Key Stage 4
  • Experience of delivering PSHE to pupils
  • Experience of monitoring individual student progress and pastoral/wellbeing
  • Ability to lead and inspire students of all ages and levels

A recognised Level 3 Safeguarding Lead qualification and experience of organising and delivering parent events would be an advantage but not essential.

Director of Co-Curricular and Enrichment

We are seeking to appoint an inspiring and passionate Director of Co-Curricular and Enrichment to lead and be accountable for the delivery of quality, delivery and effectiveness of the School’s co-curricular programme. The Director of Co-Curricular and Enrichment will manage key co-curricular leaders, co-ordinate staff participation, and support the Deputy Head in the planning and delivery of key School events, ensuring there is a workable and effective School Calendar.

The ideal candidate will bring exceptional experience and knowledge, a passion for motivating and inspiring pupils across all age ranges and a keen desire to be part of the whole school community. The ideal candidate should have:-

 

  • Obtained a good honors degree
  • Significant teaching experience (with QTS) at senior school level
  • Proven experience of leading and managing innovation and change
  • Outstanding track record as a teacher
  • Decisive and confident in organisational management
  • Evidence of influencing outstanding outcomes in other teachers
  • Strong IT skills, especially in data-handling and analysis
  • Strong communication skills, with both internal stakeholders and in public

Experience of senior leadership at a school which offers a significant co-curricular programme and/or experience of creating and implementing a varied co-curricular programme, in a co-educational context would be a strong advantage but not essential.

Due to the exceptional popularity of the subject, we are seeking to appoint a part-time teacher of Food and Nutrition to join our growing department.

The successful candidate should be enthusiastic, creative and passionate about food and nutrition, and be able to contribute to positive outcomes for our young people and the wider school community.

You should have proven experience teaching Food and Nutrition at Key Stage 3 and 4 and have the ability to manage a complex caseload, have strong literacy and ICT skills, including the use of school databases, good organisational skills and interpersonal skills.

All members of teaching staff in the department are directly responsible to the Head of Department in the first instance.

All teaching staff are responsible, in the first instance, for:

  • Teaching the schemes of work as laid out by the Head of Department or agreed upon by the department, in a disciplined environment that allows access to the curriculum by all pupils while adhering to Health and Safety.
  • Ensuring that teaching rooms are well-maintained and displays are current and in good condition. Recording and monitoring on a regular basis of students’ work and progress in an effective manner.
  • Feedback to the department on any INSET or training attended.
  • Promoting the subject through their teaching and their involvement in any of the extra curricular activities taking place in the department.
  • Most teachers are expected to be a form tutor or co-tutor.
