Junior School Home Learning

With the school buildings closed, Sibford Junior School has reverted back to home learning and the Sibford resilience that we so often talk about and aim to instil in our pupils, is shining through like never before.

The dedicated teaching staff at Sibford School ensure that the Sibford education continues through creative and interactive remote lessons on Microsoft Teams, as well as making sure pupils still remain active and use the outdoors.

'Well done to Sibford at what is such a difficult and unprecedented time'

I just wanted to say how pleased I am with the schooling that’s taken place virtually. There wasn't any online/virtual lessons at her previous school so this is all new to her but I can’t praise the school and the teachers enough for what must be an incredibly difficult situation for them as teachers, and you as a whole school.

I’ve been so impressed with the lessons, the timetable, and the interaction and it is absolutely apparent that the school's primary concern is for pupils' mental health and wellbeing above all else which clearly reflects the school and its ethos and values.

I’m delighted that our daughter moved to the school, although she only got 1 day back in school after Christmas I have never seen her so excited to return to school after a school holiday!

Well done to Sibford at what is such a difficult and unprecedented time. I think you’re all doing a wonderful job.

'I feel my child is getting the best continued education and pastoral care'

Hearing from parents at other schools I am so proud of you Sibford. Everyone is doing an amazing job. It can't be easy trying to look after your own families whilst looking after our child's educational needs, and more. I feel my child is getting the best continued education and pastoral care possible during these trying times. The amount of work is spot on and the human interaction my child is experiencing being able to speak to classmates and teachers with daily video calls for all lessons is perfect. Well done everyone at Sibford. Outstanding!

'Compared to different friends' schools the service from Sibford has really stood out'

We would like to express our thanks about how well we think Sibford School has operated during lockdown. Pastoral care has been impressive and "live" classes brought much needed structure to our son's day. We have felt that he has been in very safe, well prepared and caring hands under your positive and visible leadership. Compared to different friends' schools the service from Sibford has really stood out.

'I have consistently felt that the school has gone above and beyond expectations'

Throughout the lockdown I have consistently felt that the school has gone above and beyond expectations in terms of work provision, feedback and support for the children. I sing your praises to anyone who will listen! We feel so happy that our children have been so well looked after and I as the parent providing the support at home ALSO feel like you've got my back too. Testament to this is two children who are enjoying their home learning and feeling safe and are mentally healthy too.

'Such a considered and thorough approach to home learning'

I can't tell you how fortunate we feel to have such a considered and thorough approach to home learning from the school but, even more so, the understanding that things can be very difficult at home at the moment. Thank you.

'You have managed to keep our children motivated'

Another week navigated! You have managed to keep our children motivated which is no easy task. That ground hog day feeling y was felt a bit this week but it was turned around with your help!

'Our son is engaged, enthusiastic and motivated'

Our son has really been enjoying his online lessons from Sibford Junior School. He is thoroughly enjoying learning about Shackleton and the Polar Regions and is engaged, enthusiastic and motivated. The mix of practical and written tasks is working brilliantly.

'The teachers are so encouraging and calm'

Listening to Junior School teaching over the past few weeks has genuinely inspired me and I hope it will make me a better mother. The teaching staff are so encouraging and calm with the children and sometimes I wonder how you all have the energy to give so much positivity and patience to your classes when you have your own children to help and care for.

I know it must be very difficult and we are so grateful to you.

'We are so lucky that our son is in such a nurturing, supportive and fun environment'

Thank you to all the all taff for your hard work over this last year and through these unbelievably tricky times. You have all remained calm, welcoming and smiling which must be very tough during a global pandemic!

Sibford is truly a wonderful school and we are so lucky that our son is in such a nurturing, supportive and fun environment.

'It’s been lovely to see our son come on even in the short time we’ve been at home'

The live lessons have been amazing - thank you so much for all your hard work with them. I’m sure it’s not easy on the other side of a computer! We appreciate it hugely though. It’s been lovely to see our son come on even in the short time we’ve been at home.

'Just a small note to say a BIG thank you for your teaching, patience'

Just a small note to say a BIG thank you for your teaching and patience throughout this half term. Thank you. All your dedication and hard work is totally appreciated and our daughter continues to learn and enjoy herself in this incredible time thanks to your planning and input.

Back in June, parent and freelance writer Caroline Mills, visited Sibford to learn more about how we navigated virtual learning during lockdown, and reopened the school safely and successfully.
